The influence of new methodology course on the development of high competence of novice teachers

The article describes the New Methodology Course which has been implemented in the system of higher pedagogical education in 2014-2020. It was designed by the group of University teachers within the joint project of British Council Ukraine and Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine “New Generation School Teacher”. Its key principles are the following: Methodology is the key to the preparation of student teachers; it is delivered in English; it is based on the variety of approaches to teaching and learning; language courses complement the Methodology course; basic requirements are standardized; school experience is carefully phased and closely linked to the Methodology course; Continuous assessment tasks are designed to reinforce learning throughout the programme.
