Abstract
The cartographic training of geography teachers shapes geographic thinking. A prominent scientist economist and geographer N.N. Baransky wrote: «Geographical thinking is thinking tied to a territory, putting its judgment on the map, coherent, complex, not confined within the framework of one «element» or one «industry». A geography teacher needs a deep understanding of the essence of the map and the cartographic research method. The cartographic method of research is currently the most effective tool for understanding the patterns of spatial distribution, as well as the structure of geographic objects and phenomena, their relationships, a means of monitoring and forecasting.
